The Community Development Projects are categorized as below:
Our primary function involves collaborating with communities to execute Community Development Projects across ten sectors within the Labasa FSC Mill region. Our association, guided by the principles of Fairtrade Development, prioritizes community initiatives in its strategic plans.
These projects extend beyond cane growers to encompass a diverse range of community members, with a commitment to enhancing all facets of cane farming communities through the allocation of a certain percentage of the annual premium.
Our focus is on poverty alleviation and capacity building, ensuring equal opportunities for all community members. Our mandate extends beyond the welfare of our members to encompass the broader community. Since 2011, we have been implementing Community Development Projects within the cane belt areas, with the scope and reach of these projects continuously expanding.
Our Community Development Projects are safeguarded by a comprehensive policy that outlines procedures for application, screening, approval, and implementation, ensuring professionalism and effectiveness in our endeavors.
The Community Development Projects has brought a lot of improvisation the cane belt communities. LCPA also believes working in partnership with other organization in order to help the communities at large.
To date Labasa Cane Producers’ Association have completed 680 projects which have greatly assisted in poverty alleviation through the provision of basic amenities to improve living standards across the Labasa Mill sugar cane belt area.
